About Anna.

I am an artist-designer-maker. I have a wide interest in the art world from Drawing, Painting and Printmaking to Textiles, Fashion and Jewellery.

I enjoy processes and techniques in different aspects of making and the development that happens from the initial idea to the finished piece. I am keen on bespoke and hand made work. Most of my inspiration is taken from the beauty and perfection in nature and my pieces, therefore, reflect this. I love creating something beautiful and representing my experience of nature and my surroundings, bringing attention to the purity of form, and beauty I perceive within it, reflecting this in my work.

I have included here on my website many of my favourite pieces that I have made in the last 5 years.

Please get in touch through my contact page, I am happy to answer any questions about my work and availability.

About me and my interests in Art and Design.

I am a Textile Practitioner, Designer-Maker, inspired by nature and its natural geometry, which influence how I design patterns and individual pieces. My family and education cultivated my creative development from a young age through art and crafts such as hand knitting, sewing, drawing and painting.

Walking, collecting and photographing primary inspiration develops my project concepts. Bold designs represent my experience of nature and surroundings, bringing attention to the colour, purity of form and beauty I perceive through studying the structure and intricate details.

Exploring light, water, plants, texture, shapes and geometric patterns, I create representative or abstract designs which I translate into textile pieces that are both beautiful and functional, often wearable, such as accessories or bespoke products.

Processes I use include embroidery, knitting, crochet, construction and printed patterns. Making by hand and being involved in each stage of design and making are key to my methodology.

It is important for me to work with natural materials, such as cotton, linen, wool and silk. I also enjoy working with metals such as silver and copper, as jewellery making is another discipline I practice. Fabrication through natural materials supports my inspiration from nature as well as my aspirations for a sustainable, ethical and environmentally aware practice.
